As the roads heat up the pavement can hit 140 degrees or more. That hot pavement can generate enough heat to cause your tires to blow out. So as the Summer begins to heat up:
- Check your tire pressure
- Check your tread levels
- Check the weight load
Locally, Les Schwab and other tire shops will help you with this if you’re not comfortable doing it on your own.
And beyond the heat of Summer, it’s also a good idea to do the checks above at the beginning of the fall season. After several weeks of driving in the heat your tires will naturally lose pressure. And under-inflated tires during the wet season are an equally dangerous hazard.
